Hollow City: The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine’s Peculiar Children

Hollow City The Second Novel of Miss Peregrine's Peculiar ChildrenIn the second part we meet again with Jacob and strange children, only now it takes place not on the island, and on the way to London. Strange children run away from their retreat from hollows devouring souls and go to London to save his beloved mistress. The events unfolding in the 40-ies of the last century, which also caused me a lot of questions and a lot of dissatisfaction.

Again the book contains many black and white photos, but in terms of content – solid zero: drawn-out narrative, the storyline is almost none, characters the protagonist does not reveal a feeling that they stood on one place and open ending, which is specially invented to take up writing the third part. Compared to the first book it is very damp, dull and uninteresting. The book is full of inconsistencies, as if the author wrote and forgot to modify. And if the second part of such a cheese would be hard to imagine what will happen in the third. Because the events are just beginning to develop. Even scary… But for the sake of interest still try, I wonder the same, how it ends and how the author will get out of this difficult situation.

In principle, the feeling of far-fetched for the ears, too, could predict. It is clear that in the first novel the author had his own history based on found in the archives of old pictures, and in the second line of the story is already set, and have to pick up pictures that somehow fit. Some of the pictures blended well, but it was a strong impression that a particular story appeared, simply because I found this picture and it was necessary to sew to the plot. Besides, it became less strange and frightening images and more ordinary, the everyday.

The second part, of course, has a large number of all sorts of adventures. Escape from the island. Searches of the lake. Loop miss Wren. London. Loop Of London. 21. All this is well, interesting. But what can I say. In the end it made me a huge impression. Especially the decision of Jacob to “return to miss Peregrine.” It’s terrible… a little More and I would cry. I so felt sorry for them. Do that they then did? Nothing. Would have stayed or went to another loop. And Jake, he would not be able to live in his world.
